Rodney Lee Gibbons is the man behind Creative Arts Photography. Rodney has twenty years experience as a professional photographer. He graduated Fauquier High School in Warrenton, Virginia in 1975. After leaving his first career as a Virginia state trooper, he attended Fairmont State College in 1982 where he quickly discovered his artistic abilities. He earned a Bachelors Degree in 1986, specializing in Graphic Fine Arts and Photography, joined the Virginia Professional Photographers Association in 1991, and became a member of Professional Photographers of America in 1993. "I went from capturing people at their worst to capturing them at their best," he says – "the latter is much more rewarding".

Rodney earned his Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) designation in 1994. The CPP is awarded to only those photographers who meet the highest professional and ethical standards. To become certified, a photographer must successfully complete a rigorous examination to evaluate the quality and consistency of his work. Further, the photographer must participate in continuing education to keep his skills up to date and his work must be reevaluated periodically to maintain the certification. Worldwide, only 1,600 photographers have met the stringent requirements to become a Certified Professional Photographer.

Rodney was named one of the top three photographers by The Quad State Business Journal and has received awards at the Kurtz Center Moulden Gallery. He has studied with nationally and internationally known photographers at the Winona International School of Photography and the New England Institute of Professional Photography, and attends yearly seminars and conventions to maintain his certification.

In 2004 he helped found the Shenandoah Wedding Professionals Association to bring brides and wedding professionals, who operate under a strict code of ethics, together. The association is made up of over forty members representing a variety of services.

His photography has appeared in magazines such as Virginia Bride, Country Inns Bed & Breakfast, Loudon Magazine, and PC World, as well as the Winchester bridal directories and an edition of the Winchester-Frederick County calendar. His unique style of wedding photography has been featured in the Northern Virginia Daily, the Winchester Star, The Journal, The Fauquier Times-Democrat and The Wedding Pages.

Creative Arts' photography has been displayed at the Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester, VA, the Martinsburg Mall in Martinsburg, WV and at the Frederick Towne Mall in Frederick, MD.
